Jorge Garcia’s bodily restlessness became apparent long before his dance. Amateur football in the meadows of Pernambuco, and surfing, combined with his studies in Brazilian folk dances, classical ballet and contemporary dance, mingled in his corporal unconsciousness making him seek a unique style as a dancer at large companies such as Cisne Negro Cia de Dança (Black Swan Dance Company) and then as a choreographer at São Paulo City Ballet and at other companies.
In his constant search for the new, continuing to experiment, he simultaneously carried out diverse independent projects. He founded the P.U.L.T.S., Choreographic Theatre and the GRUA, a group of improvisation, video and performance. Apart from choreographing for international groups he has also worked for the opera, theatre, circus and cinema.
The time to start his own company arrived in 2005. As a result of his great work so far and as a way to deepen his research into language and dance, he founded J.Gar.Cia Contemporary Dance.
